1.Why two (2) knobs? Wouldn’t some kind of single clamping lever be more convenient?
All accessory trays from Heritage Music Products use our rock solid proven clamping system. This unique design allows clamping to all kind of music stands and mike stands on the market today. This includes standard sizes ranging from 3/4″ up to 1 3/8″ . No need to remove the knobs. Just loosen the knobs and flip the cleat! This system along with the strength of solid hardwood easily holds up to 20 pounds.
The hanger bolts may be extended ( unscrew) up to an additional 1″ for extra wide diameter music/mic stands. Use a vice grip or pliers with a cloth to protect the custom finished bolts.
2. What kind of finish do you use?
Heritage Music Products are finished with an age old multi-stage process. Danish oils are applied by hand either followed by two coats of hand rubbed high quality urethane oils or 2 more coats of Danish oil. After a thorough drying process the finish is rubbed out with 0000 steel wool and dark finishing wax. This results in a durable water resistant table top finish.
4. What is 5/4? Isn’t solid walnut very expensive?
5/4 is sawmill speak for a 1 1/4″ thick rough sawn board. Walnut is very expensive and sold by the board foot. One( 1) 4/4 board foot is 1″ x 12″ x 12″. So 5/4 cost 25% more than 4/4 hardwood. But your stands should last for generations! Incidentally, no one offers 5/4 walnut anymore. I want to add weight to your instrument stand to help prevent tipping.
5. Will Heritage Music Products fit my woodwind instruments?
HMP pegs have been tested with leading professional Clarinet, Oboe, English Horn and Flute brands. If you have an unusual sized bell, custom sizes are available for an addition fee.
6. Why are the stands so big and heavy.
A substantial low center of gravity helps prevent tipping. One of the high end instrument stand makers actually uses 1/2″ plate steel. Those spidery legged plastic stands from China are everywhere. We like the beauty of American Black Walnut for its heft and forgiveness if you miss the peg. We feel the trade-off for the extra weight is worth it.
7. How are the pegs fastened to the base?
HMP uses 10-24 metal threaded inserts. Our other hardware is custom plated in house with black oxide.
